When I was in a porn addiction, I felt motivated at times. "This is it now. I'm going to finally quit porn for good. I'm never going back"
And yet, eventually, an urge came along and I'd end up relapsing.
I felt confused and frustrated with myself.
And then the fresh start, day 1, would begin and I'd go again with the motivation.
Relapse was inevitable. I was stuck in that cycle for years and years.
I always thought I could get out of the addiction on my own.
And the truth is, I did get out of it on my own.
You may ask "Didn't you get help from Mari Paulus to finally overcome it?" and the answer would be "Yes. Absolutely." It was only when Mari taught me a specific method for dealing with the addicted part of the mind (APOTM), and how to use a 5-Fact script that I finally put porn in the past for good. However, getting out of the addiction was still something I chose to do, technically, on my own. This is because Mari and anyone else for that matter has zero control over MY CHOICES.
As such, anyone who ever escapes a porn addiction does indeed do it alone.
This is because anyone who is in a porn addiction engages in their compulsive behaviour when they are by themselves. Mari wasn't by my side during each and every urge. And I wouldn't have wanted her to be either. That would be weird as f*ck.
All I did was seek and obtain the correct information and tools to enable myself to think in a new way and know exactly how to rewire my own brain.
I will be forever grateful for Mari teaching me the Beyond Compulsion™ method. But, I am also pleased with myself for choosing to use it.
