Think, and live free

For years I had been indoctrinated into believing that external things led to me relapsing. External triggers. My environment. Other people's words. Fast approaching deadlines. However, by thinking in this way I gave my power to the addicted part of the mind (APOTM). I let the APOTM drag me into a state of helplessness, believing I wasn't in control of my own choices. The truth is that the reason people stay stuck in a cycle, continuing to relapse, is not because of anything external, but instead because of what goes on in their mind. Having a simple clear structure in place to deal with the APOTM is essential to becoming free from this problem. This afternoon I received this message from a recent Beyond Compulsion Academy member.

Before BCA, this client didn't know how to deal with urges and so would go on streaks and then inevitably relapse. Now, he no longer needs to figure out how to solve this problem or go round in circles trying different quick hacks and tips. No more blockers or removing triggers for life. Instead, he has a clear, repeatable, simple plan in place and knows exactly what to do at all times to change his own neural pathways. Don't fall for the lie that you relapse because of anything external to you. Your mind is more powerful than you have been taught!
