Over 16 months of freedom

Last night I spoke to one of our first clients. He joined the Beyond Compulsion Academy around a year and a half ago. He's now stopped the behaviour for over 16 months. The last 12 months have been the best of his life.


When you are trying to stop engaging in a compulsive behaviour, you have moments where you really want to engage in the behaviour. Right there in that moment, you have a choice. But, unless trained in dealing with that moment in a very specific way, the addicted part of the mind (APOTM) is likely to choose for you.


In that moment, we have to start by getting into the neural pathway of compulsive desire and out of feelings of deprivation. Fact 1 and Fact 2 of the 5 Fact script.


That is the very foundation of the script that I and our clients use to successfully deal with the APOTM at all times.


Without doing this first, the APOTM will convince you that you either don't really want to engage in the behaviour or that you can't engage in the behaviour. Writing a script to deal with compulsive desires is only a good solution if the script is founded upon solid truths and well-understood concepts. The foundational principles are key. Connecting to each fact in a specific sequence and conceptually understanding it all, accurately, leads to long-term success. This is how our clients are able to stay stopped and actually love the process of choosing this straight line path for good.


Without it being a choice, there is no real freedom.


But, really understanding it is a choice requires a lot of training and repetition.
