It Is A Problem To Solve

When I used to struggle with porn, I had many thoughts around what my problem with porn meant about me. There was a cognitive dissonance as I didn't feel like the same guy that watched porn. I felt a lot of shame and frustrated with myself. I questioned why I would have certain desires and spent a lot of time exploring what happened in my childhood. Nowadays, I don't waste anytime dwelling on the past or sinking in shame and self-doubt. Instead, I see porn addiction as a problem to solve. And I love solving problems. Often when someone is struggling with a problem - a lot of emotions get involved. And, whilst this is natural and to be expected as part of being human - it can really get in the way of solving problems in a logical, rational way. But, the good news is that it is possible to look at porn addiction like any other problem. And, it all starts with understanding what the problem actually is. The problem is not that there is something inherently wrong with people who watch porn. Instead, the problem is that people have not been taught how to deal with their own compulsive desires in a rational way. Once you know exactly how to deal with the addicted part of the mind (APOTM) directly, you don't have to keep running from your own mind. You can crack on with your life and simply think through compulsive desires rationally, moment by moment, as you enjoy the process of changing your neural pathways. If you would like to get trained on dealing with the APOTM directly, start Beyond Compulsion Academy.
