A lot of people only watch porn every few weeks or months. And yet they feel terrible about it when they do. They often think about "not watching porn" and they don't feel like they are in control of themselves. In fact, they fear relapsing and create all kinds of conditions to try and restrict themselves from ever watching porn again. They put rules in place, remove their triggers, and install blockers. Time passes. They forget the consequences.
They go back to it, and the cycle of motivation and willpower starts again.
It is exhausting. It is frustrating. And it can go on for years, and in most cases - decades. If you want to escape this cycle, it is essential that you learn how to think in ways that actually serve you, instead of serving this destructive up and down cycle.
Many wellness routines and strategies only work temporarily because they don't deal with the inevitable moment of compulsive desire.
