Don't Conform To Helplessness

This morning I chose to start reading "Atomic Habits" by James Clear again.
I have read this a few times but I wanted to give it another go, with a fresh perspective and over a year of living Beyond Compulsion under my belt. So far, I've liked a few aspects, especially the bit about prioritising your system instead of your results. But the book promotes and validates helplessness from the very start. Before we even get to the contents page, the book says something that goes 100% against the truths I have learned to correctly overcome porn addiction.

A habit is introduced as an "automatic response" to a specific situation.
Now, if our behaviours are "automatic" then how will we ever get free from addiction? There are always going to be triggers.
If we believe that we act "automatically" in response to external stimuli than our chances of freedom are obliterated.
This sort of helpless language is pervasive in our society nowadays. It is the norm. Few people are aware of quite how detrimental this way of thinking is.
If you believe you watch porn automatically, on autopilot, without thinking, mindlessly etc than you are letting the addicted part of the mind (APOTM) destroy your chances of freedom.
You are choosing to consent to helplessness.
It is this kind of language which needs to change for people to have a chance of ever getting free from "bad habits", or what we call compulsive behaviours.
When we think differently and use different language, we realise that we are not some robot, acting automatically. We are human beings with the ability to think rationally. This is what sets us apart. We should take pride in this and harness our ability to make good choices, moment by moment, to achieve clarity, peace of mind, and mental freedom. To live a great life.
Don't conform to using helpless language. Don't be brainwashed into thinking in the same way as the masses.
You can make choices you are proud of every day, moment by moment.
Everything you do is a choice.
