We are always choosing something

This morning I woke up at my girlfriend's flat. I got changed and walked back over to my flat.

During this 10-minute walk along the New Islington marina in Manchester, I thought to myself "I want to check my phone right now". And instead of then saying "I'm going to try not to go on it" I acknowledged the desire and thought through the choice with my 5-Fact script. I still haven't used my phone as I write this. I have no rational reason to at this point in my day. Instead of choosing to give in to my temporary discomfort, I chose to accept the temporary discomfort because I know there is another option.

I chose peace of mind and clarity. I chose good focus and to be well organised. I chose to really feel emotions and feel connected to myself and the world.

I chose to feel balanced, stable and grounded. I chose to have self-respect and confidence. I chose to feel human and love people. I chose to be present and available for others. I chose to have the energy to make things happen and make the most out of life. I chose to have fun and enjoy my days. I chose to help other people effectively. This is my benefits list. It is a part of the 5-Fact script that I use to think through any and every compulsive desire. We are always choosing something. Stop running from desires, and start thinking them through rationally so you can choose a better life, beyond compulsion.
