Wanting Versus Engaging

Some life situations may result in you feeling some discomfort and could potentially result in you wanting to engage in a compulsive behaviour. However, there is nothing, other than your own mind, that can actually cause you to watch porn. For example, people often say things like: "I watched porn because I was stressed" "I did it because I felt lonely" "I have been going through some tough times lately"

The truth is that many of these things may be difficult and challenging and hard for anyone to deal with, but none of them truly result in you watching porn. Instead, they result in the addicted part of the mind having a justification to engage in porn use. And of course, porn never solves the problems in your life anyway. It just provides temporary relief. The difference between wanting something and acting on that wanting is massive. The space between desire and how you respond is your opportunity for change. If you'd like a script to think through your desires so you can change your actions, the Beyond Compulsion Academy exists to help you achieve this goal.
