Transformation after 4 years of therapy

I recently had a client request to pay for his Beyond Compulsion Academy subscription with a different card, not a problem at all. He was young and his mother had been arranging the payments. She was the one who ended up messaging me to make the payment with a new card.

At the end of the message she put something which hit me hard.

Message from a client's mum saying we've saved his life
I've covered her son's name up in the WhatsApp screenshot.

She said our method had saved her son's life. I've heard similar things from clients before.

But, there was just something about receiving this from the mother of a client which hit me even harder emotionally. It left me close to tears.

This client was the youngest we've worked with and prior to us he'd been trying his best to overcome his porn addiction with therapy.

He'd been going to therapy weekly for over 4 years and this had undoubtedly cost his parents a lot of money. And most importantly, it had only made things worse. As much as the therapists delved into this young, innocent kid's past in an attempt to unravel some trauma, nothing really changed for him. He was still left without a way of dealing with the inevitable moment of compulsive desire. He still had no idea on what to do actually do with an abundance of unanswerable questions (UQ's) and junkie thoughts (JT's) coming from the addicted part of the mind (APOTM).

He was still continuing to relapse and strengthen his addicted neural pathways, keeping the cycle alive and going. This client now has a 5-Fact script to deal with each and every urge. He knows exactly what to do at all times, and has taken back control from the APOTM. Overcoming porn addiction doesn't have to be a long drawn-out journey of self-discovery. It definitely shouldn't require 4 years of therapy. It is a case of learning how to deal with the inevitable moments of compulsive desire, and changing addicted neural pathways with a repeatable process that rewires the brain correctly.
