The Opposite of Porn Addiction

In 2020, I was deep in a porn addiction. I tried everything to finally quit porn. But, eventually, I always relapsed. At the time, I thought the opposite of porn addiction would be "a life without porn". Nowadays, I understand that the opposite of a porn addiction is "a life of freedom". I am not talking about financial or geographical freedom. I am talking about psychological freedom. I am free to choose to watch porn at any moment. I have a choice. It is a real option. In moments of compulsive desire, I choose to use the 5-Fact script to put the rational mind in charge, instead of letting the addicted part of my mind (APOTM) choose for me.

Tomorrow, I will be getting on a plane to Portland, Oregon to finally meet Mari Paulus in-person. It has been a long time coming and I am looking forward to it. It is amazing how much things have changed because these thoughts don't even come up anymore, but if I was still struggling with a porn addiction I'd probably have thoughts like this: "I am going on a big trip soon so I can't watch porn before I go because it will ruin it"

"I won't be able to watch porn whilst on this work trip, especially because I will be with Mari"

"What should I do if I have an urge whilst I am out there?"

Instead, I have changed my neural pathways so much through my repeated use of my 5-Fact script that I know I can watch porn in Portland, just as I know I can watch it in Manchester. Yes, I wrote that right - "I can watch porn in Portland". It sounds weird at first, but it is true. Just because I can do that doesn't mean the consequences would be okay with me. In fact, it would pretty much ruin my entire life, but that doesn't mean that "I can't do it". Real freedom isn't about where you are, who you are with, how much money you have, or any other external thing.

Real freedom is an expression of how you think. If you would like to learn how to think in a way which results in freedom from porn addiction, the Beyond Compulsion Academy can help you achieve this specific goal.
