The addicted part of the mind (APOTM) just wants one thing.
And it will even go so far as using the child self's emotional vulnerability against you.
If something comes up in your adult life that triggers the same intense emotions you felt in your childhood - the APOTM will likely try to take advantage of the situation.
This is just the brutal truth of what happens in addiction.
It may seem logical to work on dealing with the trauma side of things to avoid experiencing the compulsive desire to use porn.
However, the compulsive desire to use porn can arise in all kinds of different situations.
Last month, one of our clients went to a football game where his team won and felt really happy. He still wanted to watch porn on his return home.
That is why dealing with the trauma side of this problem, independent of the compulsive desires, never works long term.
The question to ask yourself isn't "why do I have this desire?" but "what am I choosing to do and why?".
Once you are clear on how to deal with the APOTM head on, you will always have a clear answer to "what am I choosing to do and why?" and as such can live moment by moment, free and in control of your own choices.
If you'd like to explore working together so you can deal with the APOTM directly, schedule a 1-1 discovery call with me.
