Look backwards, move forwards

Writer: Tom MolyneuxTom Molyneux

When I was addicted to porn, I'd feel like I was making progress in my recovery.

And then I would relapse.

Most NoFappers would tell me that "you have not lost all the progress you've made".

The truth was that progress in my recovery was never gained.

Choosing to relapse is what keeps people stuck in addiction. It is choosing to watch porn which keeps the addiction alive and creates more future desire, not less. It strengthens the addicted neural pathways.

I was stuck in a cycle of ups and downs, going no where in my recovery fast.

This is largely because of how passive my approach was.

I was counting days, thinking that that was a good measure of progress.

To achieve freedom from porn addiction, an active rewiring is required. Myself and my clients do this through a very deep and thorough education on addiction, predominantly taught by Mari Paulus who has worked in addiction recovery for over 35 years.

This education is pulled together into a single A4 piece of paper that includes 5-facts and can be used to repeatedly think through desires to actively change addicted neural pathways correctly.

This is how you put your addiction in the past, so that you can look forward and truly get your life back.

Attack is the best form of defence.
