Learning to overcome an addiction, before getting into self-improvement
Yesterday, I recorded another podcast with one of our Beyond Compulsion Academy clients - Joe.
Prior to meeting with me, he had been a guest on another podcast with a fitness coach.
As we sat down to record, I noticed he was looking in great shape. We love to see it.
Not only did Joe have peace of mind, having overcome his addictions, he was growing in other areas of his life too.
However, this was not always the case.

For years, he had been trying to work on himself in a variety of areas, but no matter how hard he tried - he continued to struggle with porn. He'd always return back to it, despite trying so hard to stop. As such, it was hard for him to make real progress in life. And, even when he was progressing in other areas, it was always tinted by the reality of his struggle with porn addiction. What most people do is try to use self-improvement to overcome their porn addiction. At the Beyond Compulsion Academy, we are laser-focused on dealing with addiction. There is no self-improvement work involved. We learn how to deal with the addicted part of the mind and most importantly the inevitable moment of compulsive desire. Once the addiction is solved, people can continue to grow and develop in other areas of their life without it being tinted by addiction. Self-improvement can be great. But, trying to improve your life whilst struggling with an addiction is like going to watch a movie with broken glasses on. It doesn't matter how good the film is, if you're struggling to see it - you are not going to have a great time.
