If a friend asked you to go out for a walk in a few hours from now, would you say yes? Some would say yes and some would say no. If a friend asked you to go and watch porn, on your own, in a few hours from now, would say yes? Again, some would say yes and some would say no. But, my guess is that a lot of you reading this would actually choose against watching porn if someone asked you to.
Why? Because it isn't actually the porn that you want.
It is the mind / mood altering experience you get from choosing to engage in your compulsive behaviour that you want.
You can get this from porn, but you can also get a similar feeling from choosing to engage in many other compulsive behaviours.
When someone gives you the complete go ahead to go and watch porn, you don't get the same mind / mood altering experience.
Changing the way we think is powerful stuff.
If you want to get a better understanding of how your compulsive behaviour is currently impacting your life, I have some more questions for you. Take the compulsion test to receive a score out of 100 based on how much your use of porn is influencing the quality of your life at the moment.
