The Easypeasy Method

Updated: Sep 4

Yesterday, I finished reading The Easypeasy method for the third time. I had read it once years ago, but then relapsed after a brief encounter with "success".

And then over the last few weeks, I've read it two more times to analyse it in-depth for the Help is Here podcast that I run alongside Mari Paulus.

In the evening I went ahead and recorded a podcast with Mari to dissect the book.

By the end of the day, I felt shattered.

What I realised is that by consuming so much conflicting, confusing content that provided such intangible, multi-directional advice - I felt pretty exhausted.

If you have read the Easypeasy method and have been successful, good for you. That is great news. Treat yourself to a pat on the shoulder from me. But, for the average person - I can almost guarantee it won't work, long-term. The reason being the addicted part of the mind (APOTM) can easily find loopholes in the method. Upon analysing the book, I found countless flaws in the advice part of the book, which we will share when the podcast is posted soon. The first half is pretty great so reading up to around page 70 isn't a bad idea. But, if you want to get free from porn addiction - you need to know exactly how you are going to proactively change your neural pathways in the moments of compulsive desire. Without this, it is going to be very challenging to get truly free.

Last night, before bed, I opened up Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. Wow. Just after reading a few quotes, I felt better. There is a lot of great work out there in the world by some smart people. Good philosophy can soothe the soul. But, from my experience, if a method is guided by quick hacks and tips, without a clear understanding of the principles and values behind the "hack" there is little substance to be found.

And if there is no actionable, clear-cut, tangible step on how to deal with the real problem (compulsive desires), you may have just wasted a lot of your own time, searching for something that doesn't exist.

The Easypeasy method is a another strategy ripe for the addicted part of the mind. Jumping from strategy to strategy will result in confusion and overwhelm. You will begin to doubt yourself and it will make things significantly worse. I know because this is what I did for 10 years.

Whether it is through our approach or another one, my recommendation is to get absolutely crystal clear on how you will deal with compulsive desires. Know exactly what you will do in that moment that you want to engage in compulsivity. If you find an approach that actually works. This is all you need to overcome a porn addiction. Stick to it and enjoy your freedom. If you want to use the exact same strategy as me and my clients, using a 5-Fact script to think through compulsive desires, you can start building your personal script by joining the Beyond Compulsion Academy.
