Anxiety-Provoking Content

Yesterday, I spoke to a relatively young guy who had been struggling to stop watching a particular type of sexual content. I don't know what he was looking at, I didn't ask. What matters it that he is involved in a psychological / emotional dependency on a mind / mood altering experience. It isn't about the genre he looks at, but the feelings he experiences in doing so. Whilst we didn't go into it, I got the impression he'd looked at similar kind of stuff to what I have in the past. And as such, he really resonated when I shared how exhilarating and anxiety-provoking seeking content that didn't align with my sexual tastes used to be for me. The truth is that part of that mind / mood altering experience that I'd developed an addiction to included that feeling of shock! I'd unintentionally twisted my experience of sexual arousal into a concoction of fear, shame, and self-disgust.

I'd wired addicted neural pathways myself. And fortunately, with the right education, I could rewire my neural pathways in an alternative way too.

Don't waste anytime at all spinning in circles trying to figure out the why behind your particular preferences. Even if you discover the answer (which is unlikely as often this is an unanswerable question) it still won't help you in the moment of compulsive desire. Instead, get trained on how to change your neural pathways and then this whole thing will no longer even be an issue for you.
